Are We Making Our Digital World Safer?
Hey guys! How's the week been going for you? For me, it's been quite productive. Why, you ask? I've been diving deep into research on Cybersecurity & AI, and I'm ready to share some insights. Let's start small... 🤭

So let’s talk about how AI benefits the cybersecurity field first:
AI is helping us spot and stop cyber threats faster than ever. Companies are using AI to catch hackers by automating certain tasks before they can do serious damage. Cool, right?
Why It’s Awesome?
Faster Detection, AI can find threats in real time, meaning we can act quickly. It can learn from past attacks and get better at stopping new ones. Unlike humans, AI doesn't need sleep, it can monitor for threats all day, every day, every minute… Awesome right?
But where is the twist?
AI security help isn't perfect after all. Let's flip the coin and look at the other side of it:

Hackers can trick AI systems by feeding them misleading data. This can cause AI to make wrong decisions, like ignoring a real threat or flagging something harmless. For example, they can subtly alter images or data inputs to fool AI systems, making it harder to detect or prevent possible attacks.
A lot of data is required for AI to manage properly, which is a gold pot for hackers, making your data a victim. Mismanagement of data can lead to leaks of sensitive personal information, that can be exploited by malicious actors. *sigh*
Bias in AI Systems, What Is It?
Bias in AI systems happens when the data used to train these systems is not balanced or representative of the real world. If the training data has certain biases, the AI will learn and replicate these biases in its decision-making process.
Conclusion
Overall, AI helps detect and prevent cyber threats based on predefined rules and mostly existing attack patterns, but it still has a long way to go in being trained to handle new attacks as they appear in this fast-evolving tech industry. On the good side, it helps a lot in automating tasks and lets humans focus more on the complex aspects of cybersecurity.
AI is an awesome tool, and it is up to us how we use it. ✅
Something to make you laugh:
I read an article about students hacking the laundry machine and it made my day haha: Check this out

That’s it for today. Thanks for joining!
Have an AWESOME weekend! I’m off to dive back into my research 🤓
Stay healthy and cyber-safe!
Best,
